My minimum copywriting rate is typically R1.00/word. My fee will depend on the nature of the project and on the amount of research required (US$0.10/word for international clients).
Why a ‘per word’ rate as opposed to an hourly one?
As a client, you place a great deal of trust in a provider who charges on an hourly basis, especially when the work is done off-site. It is a trust which can easily be abused. How can you be assured that the copywriter you hire is being responsible and honest with regard to the time requirements of the project? My belief is that this should not be a concern of yours. You should only be expected to pay for tangible, quality content that is provided by a copywriter who conveys your intent in as concise and effective a manner as possible.
